Lost property
It happens to the best of us. If you’ve lost something at Wellington Airport here are the steps to take to help you be reunited with your item.
If you’ve lost something at Wellington International Airport, it might have been handed over to lost property.
We have plenty of stakeholders operating within our airport and your item, depending on where your item was lost, it could be in one of the following locations:
- If your item is of high value or is a legal document, or in International processing then it would have been handed to Airport Police. You can contact them directly on 04 494 8434 or WLG.AirportPolice@police.govt.nz
- All lost checked baggage and items lost on board an aircraft are the responsibility of the airline. Please contact your airline directly.
- If your item was lost in the main areas of the terminal or a security screening point, then this is likely with Wellington Airport. Please contact us using one of the Help Phones or on 04 385 5100 or the Lost Property Enquiry Form. Remember to be descriptive as possible so we can attempt to reunite you with your item.
- If an item was removed out of your luggage by Aviation Security, you should have a Notice of Baggage Inspection detailing the item that was removed. These items are transferred to the airlines after 24 hours. If you need to contact Aviation Security within the 24 hour period, you can contact the Wellington office on 04 388 0950 or reception.wlg@avsec.govt.nz. Otherwise, contact your airline.
Perishable and unclaimed items will be discarded after three weeks.
