Food 4 Thought win Upper Hutt Community Awards

The Upper Hutt winners have been announced for the Wellington Airport Regional Community Awards at a ceremony at Whirinaki Whare Taonga on Thursday night.

The Supreme winner was Food 4 thought, a community-led group in Upper Hutt that is pioneering change at the grass roots with a mission of encouraging waste reduction and the effective use of resources. Their community champions start and support many projects, work collaboratively with other local organisations and host events and workshops including a monthly community table exchange event. Their volunteers love working together to make a real difference and have lots of fun and laughter doing it!

Wellington Airport’s Manager Brand and Sponsorship, Jo Maxwell, said the airport was proud to recognise the amazing work of community groups in Upper Hutt over the previous 12 months.

“Many of these groups don’t always get the recognition they deserve, which is a big reason why we run these awards,” she said.

“Congratulations to all the winners, and best of luck for the Regional Community Awards finals later this year.”
