Energise Ōtaki win Kāpiti Community Awards

The Kāpiti winners have been named for the 2022 Wellington Airport Regional Community Awards at a ceremony at Te Raukura Ki Kāpiti on Wednesday night.
The focus of the awards is to celebrate volunteers for their valuable contribution to society with awards presented across six categories. The Supreme winner was Energise Ōtaki Charitable Trust.
Energise Ōtaki connects Ōtaki’s power source – its people – to lean, clean energy projects. Together they reduce energy poverty, waste and climate emissions, and boost renewable energy systems. Energy Otaki runs initiatives including Warm Up Ōtaki, Õtaki Curtain Bank, Ōtaki Bike Space, Ōtaki Repair Café, the Rau Kūmara Solar farm, and Whakahiko Ōtaki - Energise Ōtaki Fund.
Wellington Airport’s Manager Brand and Sponsorship, Jo Maxwell, said the airport was proud to recognise the amazing work of community groups in Kāpiti over the previous 12 months.
“Many of these groups don’t always get the recognition they deserve, which is a big reason why we run these awards,” she said.
“Congratulations to all the winners, and best of luck for the Regional Community Awards finals later this year.”
