New Airport Fire Station

Construction is underway on a new Airport Fire Station on Coutts Street in Rongotai, moving across from the existing facility on the eastern side of the runway.
This will create space for more aircraft stands, allowing for future passenger growth and to accommodate electric aircraft which will be smaller and more numerous.
The building and associated landscaping have been designed to positively contribute to the streetscape. The existing public space at the end of Coutts St will also receive landscaping improvements and will continue to provide an attractive place to relax and observe planes coming and going from the airport.
Over the next few months some of the work here will include:
- Structural steel installation
- Sewer, stormwater and water works, including the installation of twounderground tanks.
- Scaffolding with safety measures will be set up along the northern side.
